Swoopo is an auction site, it introduced a fun and entertainment model for the next generation of online auctions.
In order to participate in an auction, registered users must first buy bids (called credits, and henceforth referred to as "bid-credits") before entering into an auction. The Bid-credits are sold in numbers, not single. Each credit is good for one bid. Every bid placed, increases the price of the product by a certain amount and the auction countdown by up to certain seconds.
The auction ends when time runs out. However, because each bid extends the length of the auction by up to 20 seconds, the auction could theoretically continue on indefinitely.
Besides making single bids anytime, users can place a so called "Bidbutler", which is an automatic bidding tool. Once a Bidbutler is active it will automatically bid in the final 10 seconds of the auction to make the user as the highest bidder. Bidbutler bids hold no more value than single manually placed bids, so once the bids booked for a Bidbutler are finished a single manually placed bid can become the winning bid.
The ‘last bidder’ when the countdown reaches zero, wins the auction – usually at a very low price, when compared to the product's original retail price.
There are three modes of users viz. The general user(Visitor), The registered user, and the administrator.
The visitor is able to watch all the posted bids, register with the site through a interactive login process. They can have the detailed view about the process, that is how a user can benefit from the site. At any time, the user can contact the site administrator.
The registered user has a vast functionality, firstly he has the feature to bid for the live auction.
The next feature that the registered user has is that he can buy the bids.
The next feature, he can set the autobidder.
The site administrator, can manage all the functionality through a secure login process.
